Kiss DP-450 now plays Divx 3.11

This is firmware version 3.00 for a Kiss DP-450 clone, it has been said that it works 100% on the Kiss DP-450. It was originally meant for HB DX-6526, which is a French version of the Kiss.

This looks interesting.

Can anyone confirm it works for the original Kiss DP-450?

Anyway, the link is in French (and I canīt read in French), I will see if I can find an English translation for it.

Quick translation :

- You can use the firmware for the HB DX-6526 on the DP-450

- There should be a firmware update for the DP-450 soon

This firmware works perfectly with the DP-450.

- DivX 3.11 play not always perfectly. Their's some problem when the bitrate is high. But it works..
- MP3 VBR play 100% fluent !! (Even after a "search" or a "pause" )
- BivX are now fully supported (you can select the Audio stream with the audio-menu )
- Their's a new function : "Auto FullScreen". (When you read a DivX with a resolution < 640xXXX, the Zoom is used Automatically. Like VCD & SVCD )
- Subtitles are now centered.

---

But this firmware is not bugfree:
- Their's some Audio problem with some 3.11. Sometimes sound becomes robotic.
- (some) People reported problems with Ac3 & DivX 4/5
- (some) People reported synch problem with some Subs

Official link to the firmware is down (Maybe beccause they are doing 2-3 corrections ). But you can find it here : http://overnetfr.free.fr/kiss/datas/...rmware_3.0.iso

Lots of places. Depends where you live. I've seen them in the UK, Germany and the US.

I have tested it on the DP-500 and there is no difference between the DP-500 and 450 exept the network interface. It works flawless

Does anyone know, if the Kiss DP-450/DP-500 or LiteOn PhoMaster LVD-2001 supports DivX Movies on a DVD+R (burned as plain ISO 9660 Data DVD)?

look in FAQ
FAQ 7
Q07: What kind of optical medias are supported by the DVD-Player?
A: The following optical medias are supported:
CDDA (Normal music CD's).
CD-R (74min and 80min)
Do not use CD's larger than 80min, doing this may cause the loader to jam shut.
CD-RW (74min and 80min)
Do not use CD's larger than 80min, doing this may cause the loader to jam shut.
DVD-R
DVD-RW
(DVD+R and DVD+RW are not supported by the DVD-Player).

That's wrong. All my DVDs are +RW. And they play perfectly.

Their is a TOSHIBA DVDRom in the KISS DP-450/500 (SD-M1612 RevA, RevB, RevC or SD-M1712 ).
I got the SD-M1712, and it can read DVD+R(W). If I remeber well, the SD-M1612 RevA cannot.. (But I'm not sure. Maybe it's the "RevB" or "RevC" or all SD-M1612 ).

But you can change the DVDRom. You can, for example, replace the TOSHIBA with a LITE-ON. So you can even read 99' CD-R.

-----------

For the OGG, I think that the KISS support only Music CD with OGG. Not OGG in MPEG4.
Maybe it works with the last firmware, I didn't try yet.
But Kiss said that they were working on it... A futur firmware
( They were promissing 3.11, GMC, MP3-VBR, BivX, Subtitles, etc.. And they did it ;-) ).
