looking for advice on a media player
Hey guys ,
I'm looking to buy a new DVD player that will play pretty much everything. I have a slot-load RCA DRC310N DVD player that only really plays DVD+R. But I was looking for advice from you guys for a new one. You know, something I can rely on to play different media formats. Not just for DVD, but for music media and other formats. Im sure you know what I mean, I'm looking for a really good one! Thanks for any advice you may have. |

If you're after a standard-def device and have a limited budget, then I would go for one of the NeroDigital certified stand-alone players. Which have the advantage of being able to spin Mpeg4 video within both the .AVI and .MP4 containers.
Although I have not tried any of these players myself, the Siemssen SCO 5000 ND looks to have a very good specification and offers support for Qpel. If you have a bit more money to spend and can wait a while longer, Zensonic will be releasing their Z500 device. At the time of writing this stand-alone player will be the first to offer playback of high-def content encoded in MPEG-1/2/4 and WMV9 together with NeroDigital certification. And hopefully support for the Matroska container(s). It even offers network (via EtherNet or wireless) connectivity Cheers

Hey thanks for the advice SeeMoreDigital, they both sound really great. The Z500 device sounds like the best choice. I got plenty of money, so I might look into that one.
Would these players work just as well in the US, or would there be compatabity issues ? ( newbie )

Zensonic have set up their own forum for the Z500, where you should find answers to many of your questions.
That said yes, Zensonic do indeed plan to launch the Z500 in the US. Cheers
