Tevion MPEG4 - Desynchronized audio

Hi,

I have a Tevion MPEG4 DVD Player which I’m very happy with only problem I have is although all XviD movies I have made with AutoGK have worked fine I have come across some XviD movies that playback with desynchronized audio on this hardware player.

These movies playback fine on any software player.

This has happened to me with CBR & VBR mp3 as well as original AC3 audio tracks

Does anyone know how I can repair these movies so they playback synchronized?

Any help appreciated

As a matter of interest, are you able to identify whether the problem is worse with Mpeg4 streams encoded with ASP features as opposed to SP features?

That said, it may have something to do with how the audio and video streams have been "interleaved". So you might want to experiment with Alexander Noé excellent AVI-Mux tool

Cheers

I guessed it had somthing to do with the "muxing" do you have any parameter suggestions?

OT I also was thinking of trying Nero Digital encodes because the player reads "MPEG4" I think AVC should work but as I understand you can't mux AC3 into the MPEG4 container & I don't like to transcode audio that's why I haven't done it so far.

Sorry but no... If you have not done so already, I suggest you try searching the forum for other Tevion player users, to see if they've discussed similar issues!

I sounds like your player is fitted with a Zoran Vaddis (776) chip-set, which DOES support the .MP4 (and .AVI) container along with NeroDigital Mpeg4|SP and ASP decoding... But it DOES NOT support NeroDigital's Mpeg4|AVC decoding... At the time of writing, no player supports Mpeg4|AVC decoding!

Well this has occurred with DivX 3 movies too so I guess it is affected by SP encoded movies.

I tried AVI Mux (default settings) with a DivX3 + MP3 movie I had trouble with & no luck.

OT: I have also found that this player can decode DivX3 audio but couldn't decode an early DivX5 movie encoded with the QPel tool.

If it wasn't for the desynchronizing I would be very happy :-( .

Hi Wool,

From the EYO Forum link you posted, it appears that the player is not DivX certified, which may explain why your DivX 3 content does not play correctly!

Also, DivX3 does not conform to the Mpeg4 ISO 14496 standard, unlike DivX5, XviD, 3ivx, FFmpeg, NeroDigital etc

With the correct firmware and player build quality, the Zoran 776 chip-set is certainly caperble of coping with all forms of Mpeg4 content (including DivX3).... but from what I've read, the player has not been put together as well as it might

Cheers
