I have a DVP320 and in the manual it states the max res is 640x480. But I think it can play DivX files with res up to 720. I tried it and they work just fine. Beyond 720, I don't know.
So it is safe to assume that the safest res is 640x480, and the max res to be used is 720x576 (DVD res).

If you're talking about on-board video up-scaling/up-sizing/up-converting... then no!
If you are talking about the maximum input resolution of an encode/source file... then this will be 720x576 (total 414,720) pixels! Cheers

The Philips player will allow you to play anything up to 720x576@25fps/720x480@30fps. All DivX Home Theater Certified devices will support this (40,500 macroblocks per second).
