divx menus
On PC I can make a divx movie with all of its menus and selectable subtitles. All these can be achieved with microDVD. So the DivX movies can be exactly like DVD movies.
Now CAN I do the same on standalone players? |

no.
divx is mpeg-4 video and the standard for making menus in mpeg-4 is mpeg-4 systems, which no standalone player supports till now

Yea no menus but you can do a generic intro ect on the phillips dvp642. If you turn the menu off the dvp642 will play all the compatable files in alphabetical order. So you can put your favorite divx intro or the dvd cover with the rating named alphabetically first then the movie or "Please insert CD2" graphic named something like zzz.jpg at the of cd1 on a 2cd encode.
I have band of brothers encoded and cut so the introduction interviews are separate from the main movie and a simple next on the remote skips the intro and jumps to the movie. Generic but it'll have to do until a standalone supports real menus and chapters.
