Good idea to use VGA to S/Video cable for a laptop?

hey guys, i want to buy a laptop and use it as a portable multimedia player. Since i want a 12" laptop and no matter how extensively i've searched the web, NONE has got native tv/out (only 15pin vga out), i might try using this cable:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=41999

I'm worried about the pretty much null non-interlaced (pc) to interlaced (tv) video conversion of this cable. The site states the laptop must support tv out, well, since no 12" laptop has tv out, will i see a bunch of non-interlaced crap in my tv screen with this cable? or will it play fine?

thnx for your help
