In your opinion, what's the best standalone player?

In terms of compatability with DVD +R backups of movies, which standalone player is best? I'm in the market for a new player. I've got an old Apex (the one with the backdoor menu to bypass the encryption) but it has some problems with skipping on some of my backups. Also, I know that some of my backups won't play on other standalones. So, what standalone will be most compatible with my backups for the least cost?

Philips DVP642, it's played everything I've thrown at it thus far...

CDR (cheapo svcd burns)
DVD +/- R and RW (even some garbage longten009 -r's without a hitch)
and on top of that you get good divx/xvid playback.

A real steal for the price.
