New Sony player - problems with interlaced DVDs - i.e TV shows on DVD

I have a Sony DVP-NS725P player. It plays any DVD I throw at it +RW or -RW and even Tivo created DVDs. However, I have noticed a disturbing issue and was wondering if anyone else noticed this on the newer Sony DVD Players.

When I am playing non-film content, i.e. TV Shows or hybrid content (interlaced + film), the video on the screen will flicker between most quick scene changes. I noticed it alot on "The Shield - Seasons 1 and 2" and my Tivo burned discs.

I have a feeling that it has a hard time with interlaced content, since all hollywood movies (film, 24fps) plays just perfect.

I could not find any settings on the player to help alleviate the problem.

If anyone can suggest a good player that does not have this problem and plays both +RW and -RW and Tivo produced discs or a solution to the problem. Thanks.
