Region-free hack for Sony NS425P DVD player

Hi,

I've received a few region-2 (Europe) DVDs which I've copied to my HD, treated with IFOEDIT's region free button, backed-up using DVD Shrink and burnt onto DVD-Rs. These will NOT play on my region-1 Sony NS425P DVD player. I don't know what the deal is!

I've followed every guide I could find, either here or anywhere else, on how to make a DVD title region-free. I even followed this guide: Removing Region and RCE Protection on MPUCoder on how to use IFOEDIT to HexEdit the different VOBs to make sure there aren't any tricky or hidden RCE checking in these DVDs and still... my damn DVD player still displays message "Playback is prohibited due to area limitations".

There must be something coded onto these DVDs *OTHER* than what IFOEDIT, or DVD Shrink knows about. I've checked my resulting DVD compilation (after all my treatment) with DVDDecrypter and it reports the DVD files to be totally region free, and no RCE checking! But still, my DVD player is looking at something else on these DVD files that neither of these software packages are looking at.

Has anyone ran into this issue? Is there something else on these DVDs that I can edit using IFOEDIT so that it can truly be region free?

Thanks in advance.

-Joseph

When it comes to making your DVD player region free. Why not have a look here.

For making region free backups of your region 2 DVD's try using DVD Decrypter prior to re-authoring and burning onto blank DVD~R/RW media.

Good luck
