low-budget-players

Hi!

when looking through cheap standalone-players, i come across names like xoro hsd 311, yakumo dvd master dx4, scott 842, and a little more expensive kiss dp 1000.

is there some reason to prefere one against the others or to buy one of the more expensive player not mentioned in here?

atm, i'm used to viewing mostly avi, various codecs, various resolution, by tv-out on my pal-tv, most videos are burned on cd-rs in the standard file format windows uses for data cds, and i think about changing to a standalone-player instead of having my pc running next to the tv.

Hi!

Doesn't make any difference what you buy it won't play all you've got. All the players have "issues" and it's just a matter of what you can tolerate.

For sheer compatibilty your better off with your computer. You could always have some fun with a welder and make your computer look like a standalone, my friend did that. We are just trying to get the whole controller thing going, but arent sure how.

After testing a number of players that's what I did. I purchased a SFF box and built my on HTPC. None of the present players will render the utility of a computer. I don't care too much for having to get up and mess around with a movie half way through and with many of the standalone players you never know. A computer is the way to go!
