What's up with the XviD Trellis Bug?

I've encoded around 10 movies with trellis since XviD 1.0 Final's release and I've yet to encounter any artifacting with them - what kind of problems are people getting with Trellis?

Im going to download the fix any how to prevent any future problems, which version do you recommend the most - Druids or Jawors?
Thanks!

Numerous threads already convering this, including one where Syskin explains the bug.

As he said, the same bug allowed XviD to win the last codec comparison.

Also as said the bug does not only effect v1.0final, basically from what I understood, it also effects all versions prior that contain trellis.

Do you want an ICL or a gcc compile? Because that would be the only difference. I also have a gcc compile that I could upload though.

I think you misunderstood due to the incorrect grammar that Syskin used when he said this:

Yes, it's a bug that still made xvid won the codec comparison 5 months ago.
That imho (as well as his subsequent explanation in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...g&pagenumber=3) means that XviD won despitethat bug, not thanks to that bug.

Nah, what I meant was that with this bug XviD was still able to win, which I think we all agree upon.

Anyway from the description of the bug, it was basically that Trellis wasn't working as well as it could have and now is, so it would still be correct to say that XviD's buggy Trellis did help to win the comparison. What impact trellis had on your descission though, I have no idea.
