Plan for 64 bit version?

Does somebody plan to release a 64 bit version of Xvid to use it on Athlon 64 - Opteron processor?

I think that the encoding speed should be faster?
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bye

i believe for the best performance you would need to run it under a 64 bit operating system such as windows xp 64bit edition to be able to access the best features of 64 bit processors.

you should be able to compile a 64bit version your self but for best performance the actual program needs to be optomiased for 64bit instructions.

does anyone have a guide for compiling an 64bit version of xvid?

Here is a guide on how to compile for AMD64:

http://www.collosumus.net/amd64/pgm/cl_1.html

I don't know how to compile, I believe that on the AMD site there is a guide too.
