Your DVD are in NTSC, but your TV only accepts PAL !!!

Read about NTSC & PAL in Doom's glossary !

To work around this, you can buy a NTSC2PAL converter...

PS:
Use google or other search engines to find better and/or cheaper ones...
(Was just a quick search ! )

Bye

Or (probably cheaper and better), buy a cheap cyberhome or so for like 49$ - they apparently do NTSC->PAL & vice versa. Quality will most likely be better than for a cheap external ntsc-pal-converter.

You say it does not have a scart socket. So I presume it has an composite and/or S-VHS output connector instead?

So if you buy European (region 2) DVD's everything is okay, colour wise?

Have you tried connecting your Sony dav-s800 to another TV while spinning your copied DVD's!

Is you black and white image stable? If it is I doubt you are watching an NTSC colour system image. It's sounds like you are seeing some kind of wierd Secam colour system image to me. But why this should be on even a copied DVD is beyond me!

What make and model number of TV are you using?

Did you buy your Sony dav-s800 in the UK or is it some grey import?

Cheers
