Best editing path from dvd -> MySonic

Hi there!

In an effort to prevent RTFM-type comments directed at this post (even though this is in a newbie forum) let me first point out I am *not* asking for a list programs, or how to edit vob's or mpegs.

Rather I'm interested in people's opinions about certain programs working *together* for a person who is ripping and then re-editing dvd material before burning it again. And no I didn't do the recut version of the Phantom Menace (though something like that seems fun).

Here is the data path I propose:

Smartripper/DVDdecryptor -> dvd2avi -> Tmpeg plus (editing occurs here) -> MySonic (for burning, chapters, etc)

My main concern is handling the data too much (e.g. re-encoding more than necessary or using more programs than necessary), but other advice would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks!

MJ

Hello and welcome to the forum.

what u r proposing is a minimal approach to the problem. Something that is very good to do.

ie. decrypt. Neccesary
dvd2avi for frameserve. Neccesary
Tmpeg plus for editing. U could use here CCE but u want editing so tmpeg is oneway actually. Neccesary
Mysonic. for dvd authoring. Neccesary this too.

People might argue that using CCE yelds more quality results, whereas Maestro or Scenarist r more flexible and better option providing solutions.

By the end of the day what is best is what suits our needs better.

@potential posters to this thread.
Pls read carefully what mjh said and I have replied. Post if an issue hasn't been covered so far.
