BeSweet & Appending silence

I'm having a problem with my audio syncing. It starts off in sync at the beginning of the vob and gradually gets worse. The sound comes after the action in the end of the vob by about 1/2 second. I've got BeSweet and I'm trying to figure out how to fix this. I am trying to get a workable dvd disc to play on the standalone. I assume that framerate doesn't work in this case from what I've read. I think what I need to do is put a half second of silence on the end of the audio file and compress to the original time. In BeSweet I put the checkmark in the append silence box and set it to 500 ms. It does not seem to append anything. I still have the 1/2 second lag. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix this? Can anyone tell me how? Thanks.
