How to add permanent subs to a MPEG2 ?

Its very easy to use virtualdub + subtitler filter and then start a frame server to encode a svcd mpeg2 file with tmpge to get a permanet subs svcd when the source file is a *.avi

But what about when your source file is allready a mpeg2 file??

I got Lord of the rings SVCD and want to make a permanent subs svcd. The subs are in *.srt (i got the subs from a webpage so i dont have the vob )

I really apreciate your help

thanks in advance
