eedi3 + nnedi3 association

One thing I love about SuperRes is that before, to get the best
quality upscaling, I would have to combine EEDI3 and NNEDI3 in
the right order and add just the right amount of sharpening at 3
different stages.
Published by MysteryX, in thread AviSynthShader + SuperRes

For videos and photos neither plenty of artifacts neither tottaly empty of artifacts, what nnedi3 + eedi3 combination is pretty good? I'm ansking because only nnedi3 neither only eedi3 gives me the result I want: so sharp and detail saver like Spline144, and no artifacts, like nnedi3_rpow2. Sinc and Lanczos don't save the amount of details Spline144 does, and are plenty of ringing. Spline144 has a few amount of aliasing.

a) nnedi3 + eedi3
b) nnedi3 + nnedi3
c) nnedi3 + eedi3_rpow2
d) nnedi3 + nnedi3_rpow2
e) eedi3 sclip=eedi3
f) eedi3 sclip=nnedi3
g) eedi3 sclip=eedi3_rpow2
h) eedi3 sclip=nnedi3_rpow2
i) nnedi3_rpow2 + nnedi3
j) nnedi3_rpow2 + eedi3
k) eedi3_rpow2 + nnedi3
l) eedi3_rpow2 + eedi3

Before I would use EEDI3+NNEDI3, NNEDI3+EEDI3 or NNEDI3+NNEDI3 differently for each video. Always the standard rpow2 function.

With SuperRes, I'm not seeing any difference between EEDI3 and NNEDI3 so I just use NNEDI3. I do get better quality with NNEDI3(nns=4).

So far it's working pretty well with any kind of material I tried. SuperRes settings can be tweaked as needed, but it's slow until it gets better optimized.

Do you think associate eedi3 + nnedi3 or nnedi3 + eedi3 increases the detail retention and sharpness, comparing with eedi3 only or nnedi3 only?

EEDI3 is more blurry than NNEDI3. If NNEDI3(4) is too sharp for the noise, blurring out the details with EEDI3 and then doubling with NNEDI3 may work better, but that's to be tested on a case-by-case basis.

MysteryX, what eedi function is blurry: eedi or eedi_rpow2?
what nnedi3 function you are talking me to double image with: nnedi3 or nnedi3_rpow2?
what is (4) in nnedi3(4)?
ah, you do nnedi3 + eedi3 and nnedi3 + nnedi3 with "merge", in AviSynth?
I'm so excited about eedi3 + nnedi3 association, whatever be the order and function, because nnedi3 has weaknesses that eedi3 fixes, and eedi3 has weaknesses that nnedi3 fixes. Therefore, in theory, this association will generate a so good upscaling. But my worries are about detail retention and sharpness (Ought to be same or more than Spline144).

Merging both results? I have never done that.

As far as I know, EEDI3 and NNEDI3, without _rpow2, are for de-interlacing only. I'd recommend you to read the basic documentation of NNEDI3 and EEDI3 as it answers many of your questions.

No, no, no, dear MysteryX. eedi3 only, nnedi3 only or eedi3 sclip=nnedi3 are for deinterlacing, when field=2 or 3; for antialiasing, when field=0; and for upscaling, when dh=true, and you TurnLeft and TurnRight the script's results.
