capturing on screen events with virtual dub

I am trying to capture action that is taking place on my windows desktop, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to perform this task with virtualdub. I know it is not a built in feature, but perhaps there is a way. I have used CamStudio http://www.atomixbuttons.com/vsc/ to capture on screen action before, but it does not seem to let me capture in divx 4.12, and it also doesn't have very complex controls over the compression. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Alw Seldon
