Unsupported MP3 audio

It's no big deal as I eventually worked out how to fix it but I was wondering why AutoGK decides this type of audio is unsupported and aborts the encode.

I was trying to convert an old AVI which for some reason wouldn't play in a standalone player.
Eventually I worked out if I opened the AVI with VirtualDubMod and resaved it as a new AVI AutoGK would then see the audio like this and it'd convert the AVI okay (I was actually keeping the original audio, not converting it again).

I'm just curious as to why they're different when they're the same audio stream and why AutoGK likes one but not the other.

Thanks.
