SPES files in VOBrator

I appologize if I am in the wrong group...

Could someone explain to me what the SPES files are that can be demuxed from most DVD VOB files?

From which planet are you coming?

Sub-picture / Sub-titles. Have you never seen a movie with sub-titles in a different language?

ok.. sub-pictures/ subtitles..

subtitles makes more sense, but whatever. dvd ripping is not my forte as i already said.
