Sharp BD-HP21u and dvd-rw

My sharp bd-hp21u in the past would read any dvd-rw. Now all of a sudden it stopped with "incompatable format" error. I've tried different burners, dvd-rw cakes, dvd-rw manufactures. I even updated the firmware on the bd-hp21u to the latest version. No joy. Anyone have a idea where I can look next? I'm stumped.

It still plays commercial DVDs and DVD+R that I've burned. But not DVD+RW.

Oh that's pretty strange especially if you tried different disks and all. They are all using the same book type too?
