List of BD-Rebuilder Compatible Players (BD5\BD9 output)
I have not included BD25 support in this post because it appears that the majority of players will play a BD-R fully with menus etc without any problems.
If you have a player that won't - Please post the details. The is a thread for listing known compatible and incompatible Bluray players with regards to playback of BD-ROM video structure on a DVD+R\-R\DL, also known as BD5 and BD9. This is a thread to help people with playback of BD-Rebuilder output. There is dispute over whether BD-Rebuilder output is "true" BD-ROM structure If you have personally verified a player to work, then please post the details being as specific as possible... ------------------------------------------ Fully Disc Denon BD-3800 Samsung BD-P1500 (delete AUXDATA folder) Samsung BD-P2500 (delete AUXDATA folder) Sony BDP-S300\S350\S500\S550* Movie Only Insignia N5-BRDVD\2BRDVD LG BH200 (prior to firmware 0602) LG BH300 (may need to use strict AVCHD option OR delete CERTIFICATE/AUXDATA/BDJO/JAR/META directories) LG BH370 (may need to use strict AVCHD option OR delete CERTIFICATE/AUXDATA/BDJO/JAR/META directories) Magnavox NB500MG9 Memorex MVBD-2510 (with Dec 24 2008 or later firmware) Memorex MVBD-2511 Panasonic BD10\BD30\BD35\BD50\BD55 (If the movie doesn't play make sure 24p is disabled in the players menu) Philips BDP 7200 Pioneer BDP-51FD (use strict AVCHD option OR delete AUXDATA directory) Pioneer BDP-94HD Samsung BD-P1200 (prior to firmware 2.3) Samsung BD-P1400 Samsung BD-P1600 (must not use DVD-ROM booktype, delete AUXDATA directory) Samsung BD-P2550 Samsung BD-P3600 (must not use DVD-ROM booktype, delete AUXDAYA directory) Sony BDP-BX1 Sony PS3 (All versions) Tvix HD-6500A (Needs firmware change\will play menus that aren't Java\do thread search for more info) Not Compatible Samsung BD-P1000 Sharp BD-HP20U Sharp BD-HP21U ------------------------------------------ *Rumours of titles from Universal Studios having issues on these players. However GaPony who owns an BDP-S550 has reported no problems at all, and has done a good dozen of these allegedly problematic discs... *Update : I'm thinking this is related to complex BD-J menus and that something is not being updated corectly during the Rebuilld phase of BD-Rebuilder but this is a guess at the moment. *Update 2 : Seems to be more and more discs with PIP tracks are showing problems. It would appear that Universal has the majority of its discs released with these tracks since they are often straight ports from the HD DVD version when it was a sole supporter of the format (PIP playback was mandatory on all HD DVD players and not on Bluray which explains this). more feedback from Sony BDP-SXXX owners appreciated Last edited by jdobbs; 13th June 2009 at 15:15. |

Denon BD-3800 both BD9 and BD5. Verbatim (BD9) and Ritek (BD5)
PS3 both BD9 and BD5. Verbatim (BD9) and Ritek (BD5) I think after a player is known to play BR in BD9/BD5 discs, it is also important to note that some players prefers certain brands than others. Also, there are brands/batchs that are known for problems all the time either single or double layer. For instance, I have Ritek for DVD5 but that brand is not good for DVD9 (DL) whereas Verbatim shines. Last edited by jwgallardo; 29th January 2009 at 18:16. |

Is this full backups or movie only?
If it's movie only I've only seen reports of one player (Sharp BD-HP20U) not working with RipBot264 output which should be comparable to BD-RB's output except different max bitrates and bpyramid. If it's full backup all I've seen reported fully working on every menu type (no menu/HDMV/BD-J) on a DVD5\9 is the Sony BDP-S300/350/500/550 but hopefully there's more out there. We are not talking about "AVCHD" here. Which most players can play on any media. |

I have read mixed reports on those players, with only jdobbs being 100% certain his player supports everything. With this thread I'm hoping for people who have successfully played full backups will post and hopefully we can find another decent player. Will update the OP Cheers, Rob |

Regarding Denon BD-3800, I confirm working perfect with BD9 and BD5 in Full Movie mode. I'm pretty sure also works for Movie Only as it worked with BD-RB v0.17.13. Unfortunately it is not working with v0.18.X as now. I reported back to Jdobbs. |

You don't need to check your sister's PS3... It doesn't support BD5 or BD9 copies. It will play an AVCHD disc, or it will even play a standalone .m2ts file... so you can copy just the main .m2ts files from your BD5 and BD9 copies onto a disc by themselves, or even put multiple ones onto larger discs if you want, but you can't play the BD5 & BD9 discs themselves.

I think you mean to put PS3 in the movie only section?
Also you can add to movie only: Samsung 1400 Samsung 1500 (if firmware 2.3+ delete AUXDATA folder) Samsung 2550 (delete AUXDATA folder) Panasonic BD30 Panasonic BD35 (If movie doesn't play disable 24p playback in player's menu) Panasonic BD50 Panasonic BD55 (If movie doesn't play disable 24p playback in player's menu) Magnavox NB500MG9 LG BH200 (prior to firmware 0602) Sony BDP-BX1 Insignia N5-BRDVD Insignia N5-2BRDVD and to not compatible: Sharp BD-HP20 Last edited by turbojet; 19th March 2009 at 16:34. |

What is the diffrence between AVCHD BD9 and Bluray BD9 ?
As far as I can see the java part is the only difference. The BD9 I have done looks pretty simular to a Bluray except for the missing menu and java. Its got multiple audio/subs. |

Oh ya Sony BDP-S500 should be in fully compatible too.
GZZ: From what I see they are commonly referred to as being the same. The few different AVCHD camera streams I've seen has had this stucture which is all I refer to as AVCHD. Everything outputted by tsmuxer, tsremux, BD-RB is BD to me because its identical to BD's structure for the most part. Outside of the commercial software that produce identical output from BD and AVCHD (depending on software) you have AVCHDme which changes the structure from what I refer to as BD to AVCHD and AVCHD-Patcher which changes a retail index.bdmv to what tsmuxer outputs. People's opinions on what is AVCHD and what is BD will differ a lot. What's discussed in this thread can surpass AVCHD specs. Last edited by turbojet; 2nd February 2009 at 16:40. |

I have aslight issue now on my Sony S550 (I expect across the whole range) where the universal titles I have tried so far do not play the audio on the movie (DTS HD Master Audio 5.1) althought it's there for the extras. On a pc or as a data stream on a ps3 the audio can be played so it must be some small setting. Perhaps something easily corrected by bd-rebuilder in future versions.
