Did a quick Full Backup of Battle: Los Angeles (CEE) using 1-pass CRF and "Faster" preset. Playing the BD-RE on a Philips 9500 right now; PiP video and audio are fine. The player has some problems reading a BD-RE (my 9500 won't play most BD-R discs...) which is causing some pauses in the movie. I'll verify on another player later today the pauses are not in the encode.

Just checking it does seem to be the case that they are VC1 / VC1. I was thrown by The Thing, which is also VC1 / VC1. However checking it was just over bd-25 and the main movie wasn't re-encoded. Therefore the only one which is okay is Harry Potter which was AVC / AVC.

I've just done Animal House (a Universal title) to bd-9. Again suffering from glitches / blocks but I wouldn't say any worse than a bd-25 disc.

Just for clarification, are you also seeing the glitches in the main video? On some discs I'm even seeing glitches in the menus - on my bd-9 version of Animal House I see lots of blocks on the Universal planet sequence at the start, then on the language selection page and then the 'blu-ray disc' menu leading up to the main selection.

Yes, on VC1 / VC1 discs. Glitching that could be described as severe blocking, both on main and secondary video. Haven't seen it on any AVC/AVC discs, so far.

I haven't been paying attention to menu background video, but I will from now on. All my tests have been for BD25.

There are two minor issues though
1. The discs use two angles to show the updated special effects and the original footage. If I have the PIP commentary ON and change the angle, it causes my player to either freeze up or skip to another scene. This doesn't happen on the original in the exact same spot.

2. I burned a BD-R using ImgBurn and it reported some messages about the M2TS files I haven't seen before:

These are really minor though, I can finally backup my Star Trek Blu-rays with the PIP audio commentary intact, thanks JDOBBS.

The CPI definitely gets changed by the DTS-Express code. When the DTS Express is added to the M2TS the SPN values change and the table has to be updated. I'll look and see if there is something goofy happening there. The fact that there is PiP and Angles might make a difference.

I can confirm that I have seen the same messages from IMGBurn when burning bd-25 of discs to test the PiP functionality. I assumed that it was a disc issue rather than BD-RB, as I ran IMGburn independently.

@SquallMX

I'm not seeing this. Does your output have angles also? What disc is it? Any special settings in IMGBURN?

Yes, is Robin Hood (the one with Russell Crown), contains theatrical and director's cut using multiangles and has a PiP containing interviews with Ridley Scott, more specifically is the G52 edition (for Latin America and Eastern Europe) with 10 audio tracks and 25 subtitles. The US release is similar in specs but with only 4 audio tracks and 6 subtitles.

I'm using ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 with "Reset 'Copy Permission Indicator' Flag" checked, I will burn the disc without to see if anything changes.

I'm using ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 with "Reset 'Copy Permission Indicator' Flag" checked, I will burn the disc without to see if anything changes.
Ok. Good. I'm getting ready to run that one right now.

I have "Reset Copy Permission Indicator" set on mine too. I think that is the default -- or at least I don't remember ever setting it.

Simply untick that "Reset 'Copy Permission Indicator' Flag" box under Options and you won't see those messages anymore. I haven't seen any adverse effects from unticking the box.

I just ran a new encode with my Star Trek BD's. This time I used Season 1 Disc 3 which has four episodes. Two have a PIP commentary track with DTS-E. The disc uses seamless branching and has two angles. I'm getting the M2TS message in ImgBurn and switching the angle while the PIP is on causes issues. The PIP and DTS-E audio play fine as long as the angle is not changed during playback. This time I have all the log files:

Frequent and continuous pixilation and image breakup on title "Inception" on latest build of BD Rebuilder. 39.02 Source is VC-1. Never had this happen before on any title, any source or build.

Defects are obvious when played on Cyberlink PowerDVD software player, Sony BDPs300 and Sharp BD-HP70u from the burned BD-25 .
Playing the mounted iso has defects in the exact same places as playing from burned disc on the cyberlink software .
Playing the original BD shows none of the defects and playing a mounted image of the ANYdvd rip is also clean.

Also, another title "Of Gods and men" which was a MPEG-4 (AVC) source was run with BD reb 39.02 without the problems previously described.

I'm presently running the same job "Inception) VC-1 source on 39.01 and comparing the VID_xxxxx.AVS.264's to the 39.02 files by playing them in the cyberlink player, I'm finding no pixilation or breakup in the avs.264's created in the older version. Compression ratio is aprox 40g/24g. I'm expecting the resulting burned BD-25 will be fine as well

Just realized I've used x264's internal LAVF for every VC-1 encoded title. Perhaps this is a bug introduced in the new build of x264? I'm going to run another backup of Animal House using FFDshow instead of LAVF.

I'm looking at the .inf and .ini and I'm seeing "USE_LAVF=0" in either case.
Is there another way to tell if that has happened?

Well, this is very interesting... because the second backup of Animal House finished a moment ago, and viewing the output on PDVD11 I can't see the severe blocking artefact in either main or secondary video. I simply unticked the "Use LAVF" box under BD-RB settings and made sure FFDShow was configured correctly for VC-1. I'll burn the data on a BD-RE next for testing on stand-alones.

I haven't changed any of my settings (but checking LAVF seems to be the default) and only get 'blocking' on PiP titles which are VC1/VC1 - I have done none PiP titles with the latest version and they are okay.

Just done Green Lantern (which is AVC / AVC PiP) to bd-9 - works fine on pc using TMT but not on any standalone players (panasonic won't play bd-9). Also got the 'Reset CPI flag' when burning the disc.

Thank you both for your input.

I've noticed that you update to a newer version, the settings are retained. I don't think I ever had the LAVF setting checked, as I think early on when I first experienced the inability to recode to AC3, I tried to find all the advice I could about the settings in general. Seems as I recall I unchecked it from the start. But then again, I never had a video problem. No burning problems either. Only audio and I still can't get it to work which is too bad because I have an extras feature I would really like to burn to a 4.7 DVD.

Just tested the "Inception" with 39.01 and everything is fine. Can swear that I didn't have LAVF checked in 39.02
