Blu-ray backing up

Sorry for the "simple" question.

Will Anydvd allow me rip my Blu-ray film, then burn it to a blank. Then play it on my PS3.
Is it that simple?

TIA

I don't know much about this, but my gut instinct wants to say "no". AnyDVD will decrypt the data for you, but I don't think it'll re-crypt it for you.

On the other hand, I do believe the PS3 can play h.264 files located on a disc, so you could decrypt your movies, re-encode them, and then play them on the PS3 that way. However, it won't be exactly the same.

Theoretically, you should be able to just take an ISO dump of the BluRay and burn that (without AnyDVD), but I don't know how different theory and practice are...

Thanks for replying.

I know all about ordinary dvd's, but nothing about Blu-ray. We have 3 PS3's in our house so I don't want to buy 3 copies of every film. Games are bad enough.
But we do have an original of everything we play/watch.
Thanks again.

I think I've read somewhere in this forum someone burning to re-writable Blu-ray dics for PS3 playback. Try it out, you got nothing to lose with re-writables.
