Help please

What's the easiest way for a newbie to rip a dvd to divx and then be able to burn to a cd. I have looked at the guides but I'm not sure where to start. I found easydivx is that a good program?

Well why don't you try? Xmpeg and Easydivx are probably good ones to start with.
