Error trying to open log file

I promise I've been looking high & low for the answer to this one. It seems that about 50% of the time I get this message in the log file and of course encoding does not work:

9:23:54 AM: Started DivX4-First Pass: C:\Divx Projects\1941\a.avs
9:23:54 AM: Finished DivX4-First Pass. Duration: 0 seconds.
9:23:54 AM: Trying to open Log-file.

9:23:54 AM: ERROR: Correction impossible.
9:23:54 AM: Now encoding at 1243 k(=1000)Bits/s

Adding this script to C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\virtualdub\VirtualDub.jobs:

I've attached the complete log file if that is of any assistance. Would really appreciate any pointers in the direction of solving this issue.

thanks, dean

Did it again in version .21b

I'm sorry, I don't get it. About 50% of the time, GKnot fails with the following:

3:22:44 AM: Started DivX4-First Pass: C:\Divx Projects\seven\s.avs
3:22:51 AM: Finished DivX4-First Pass. Duration: 6 seconds.

Sure would appreciate any thoughts on this issue. Again, using version .21B, here's the .avs file:

I've tried converting the audio as a single step, closing GKnot down, then converting the video with GKnot running things and just doing a MUX on the audio. Tried this twice this weekend and didn't have the problem.

I must confess that I downloaded the .23 version prior to the second attempt so I don't know if that contributed to the success or not.

obviously vdub is crashing in the first pass and does not produce a valid log-file.

it's probably a divx4 problem. try to install divx4.12 and also get gknot 0.23

wef.

Running DivX 4.12 and GKnot .23 right now. As I said, no problems on the last two attempts. Keep fingers crossed.

This video im working on ive ript from Batman Beyond. Im having the same exact problem...but mine wont work in divx3 or 4. It did it yesterday with Batman Mask of Phantasm. I think it has something to do with the actual .vob's. Because it only happens if i rip with Smartripper...vStrip it doesnt do that. What did you rip with when it happens?? vstrip or smartripper.
Anyways i still cant get the video to rip in vStrip...only when copying all the .vob's to the hdd with smartripper can i get the .ac3 stream and a .d2v. But from there in Gknot it fuc's up with this error msg we are getting. If only i can figure out wtf is going on here.

Just wanted to follow up...I got it to work. I chose to delete the reg values in the options tab and i deleted all .log's. I set everything back the way it was when i "installed" gknot. It finally worked.

If that doesnt work good luck...took me over 3 hours total time to get it to work.

Note: i did as i mentioned a few times...atleast 8 before it worked. But i didnt have gknot closed when i deleted the .logs and stuff...i left it opened after i cleared the reg. Maybe that is why it didnt work before. Either way i hope that helps.

btw. when i chose Inverse Telecine or whatever. do i have to also choose it right before i add the job to que??? there is 2 different spots where you can chose it looks like...which is which?
