MP3pro audio in movies... is it possible?

I havent tried it in divx movies, but all my music encoding these days I do in mp3pro, as I find that at 96kb/s i cant distinguish between the original and the mp3pro file. I figured doing movie audio at about 80kb/s with mp3pro would save extra bits for the video thus increasing overall quality.

anyone been able to do it? what about getting a plugin for media player, or the playa, etc for playing mp3pro audio? Because even if we could insert the track into the avi, it would sound crap unless you watched the movie in a player which supported mp3pro properly.

I think you can mux mp3PRO and AVI files by either using WaveMP3+VirtualDub or using Nandub ( the same thing you would do for normal mp3 files ). But as you already figured out there's the quality problem for playback. AFAIK there's no mp3PRO decompressor for VfW or DirectShow.

Would anyone dare to ask Thomson Multimedia for one?

Hi!

I downloaded the demo mp3PRO encoder the first day it was released and
from then on I only use mp3PRO for my music collection. I also have some
music videos which I encode to DivX AVI files. I would like to know if a
mp3PRO Video for Windows codec or a DirectShow filter is in development
so that I can use the impressive mp3PRO technology for my AVI files to
reduce file size. A DirectShow filter would also help me since I could choose
between more players than only Winamp and your player. The last time I
actually tried your player it lacked basic features like proper playlist support
for example. Winamp has these features but it crashes very often on my
system and so I want to use other players. I'm sure many others were glad,
too if they could use mp3PRO in a wider range of applications.

Thanks in advance and bye

I just asked them ( 5 mins ago ). Let's wait for their answer and hope. BTW: this mail contains a dirty lie. I tested mp3PRO the day it was released but I never switched to it because of the lack of supporting programs. I currently use Ogg Vorbis for my music collection and normal MP3 (Lame CBR) for all my AVI files.
