Problems Editing VOB Files
I am creating a Rip-O-Matic from shots taken from many DVDs that I own. (For those who don't know, a Rip-O-Matic is a trailer used by filmmakers to demonstrate to potential investors what the tone/story of the film they are trying to make should be.) This R-O-M will never be sold or exhibited and is for private use only.
I have spent a great deal of time using DVD Decryptor to extract VOB files from many, many discs and now I need to remove shots/scenes from the files and edit them together, but I am running into a many problems which will be described below, but first let me mention that these VOB files play flawlessly using PowerDVD. I've tried a number of different editors including MediaWare M2Edit Pro, MediaWare MPEG EditXpress, and Ulead VideoStudio. M2 identifies a number of bad frames and won't generate properly (generated files run slow, then fast, then freeze, etc.) EditXpress does something similar. Ulead generates files that stutter and freeze. And when I try to batch convert, the video that comes out seems to be missing frames every second or so with a subtle, but obvious stutter. Any help is greatly appreciated!! |

I think that M2 is erroneously identifying bad frames because the files play perfectly with PowerDVD. If there were bad frames wouldn't I see a problem when playing the files?
If I have to re-rip, so be it, but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm using IFO mode to extract the VOBs and I've tried every variation on the settings that I can think of. Maybe if there is a guide or brief rundown of how others have been able to extract VOBs from commercial movies and edit the files. I'm willing to start over if I have to. |
