Import AC3 Into Premiere?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a plugin or some other way to import AC3 files into Premiere Pro for editing?

I've been using my set top DVD recorded to capture from old VHS tapes and now I want to edit the raw footage, but it records the audio in AC3 format which Premiere doesn't support natively. I've tried demuxing the vob's and then converting the AC3 files to wav's with BeSweet, but when I export the final video from Premiere, the audio and video are out of synch.

any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi!

I'm just curious to know if you've first played your recorded DVDs to determine if they're in sync?

Yes, the recored DVDs play back fine. Even playing back the VOB files on my computer they're fine. However, after trying to re-synch the audio and video in Premiere tonight, I've discovered that the problem isn't the audio as I thought before. When going through frame by frame on one particular 3 minute clip, I see that there were actually 14 extra frames of video repeated. When I cut those out, it synched up fine. So I think I'm going to try different methods of demuxing the VOB (I was using VOBrator) and see if that doesn't fix the problem.
