DivX 4 & AC3 mu-x audio crackling

I just made my first DivX file with AC3 audio, and it's almost right, just a couple of problems - here's what I did, be grateful fo any help

I ripped the VOB's using CladDVD
Used Flask to encode the video using 2-pass divx 4.02, and send the unprocessed audio out as ac3.
opened both in nandub to mu-x em together, using 'interleave every 64ms' as Doom9 suggests.

Media player wouldn't play it at all right, PowerDivX made a decent attempt, but audio loses sync after each keyframe, and crackles slightly. What've I done wrong?

Cheers,
Alex

What are your system specs? Have you tried using ZoomPlayer or BSPlayer? PowerDivx does indeed have sync issues, at least for me it does.

The machine I was using was a duron @ 933 (7x133), KT7A and 256mb of ram. Come to think of it, I was trying to play the file over a 10Mbit network, but I'm thinking that it should be quick enough, as the entire file takes about 20 mins to copy across, but plays for 2:15.

No, I haven't tried those other players, I'll give em a go, thanks. Do they both do AC3 sound?

Incidentally, my main DivX playback box (one of those tiny aluminium shuttle boxes based on the FV24) is powered by a lowly celery 533 & 256mb of ram - is that going to be enough horsepower for DivX 4 and AC3 decoding? The graphics chipset is a S3 (pro)savage, and I'll be using an ABit PCI AU10r DTS sound card for the audio (onboard sound disabled).

Cheers,
Alex

BTW- For some reason using the default interleave settings which is 500/1 seems to work better on my system than any other settings. I suggest you try the defaults or some have suggested trying a 160/160 setting.

Yes, both Zoom and BSPlayer work fine with with AC3. I'm not familar with your sound card but your system specs should be able to play the movie smoothly.

thanks mate, I'll give that a whirl this eve. I'm not familiar with the soundcard either as yet, as it's only been delivered today, but a 5.1 DTS card with an IR remote control for UKP 30 sounded like a bargain - I'll post back about it if its any good.
