Beginner's question

Hi To All,

This is my first post. I am a beginner to doom9 forum. I have many personal DVDs that I want to take a DVD back up. Can anybody tell me how to take a back up of a DVD onto a DVD - R ? Any online tutorial would be welcome.

To burn, I have a 8X DVD Burner and I have Nero UltraSmart 6.6.0.8 version as a burning software.

Hoping for any reply,

Welcome to the Forum:

DVD Shrink is a good choice if you're just starting out. You can find several good guides at the site I just linked you to, and Doom9 has a fine Shrink guide, as well. To find that one, click the Doom9 link at the top of the page, click Guides, click DVD/mini DVD, click DVD Backup Guides, and scroll down to locate the Shrink guide. Get stuck, post back.

You'll get better help all the way around if you title your requests appropriately. Good luck!

Starting out can be very tricky and confusing. I suggest that you start by looking at RipIt4Me, a new freeware application that automates dvd ripping. ImgBurn (donationware) is my burner of choice, even though I bought Nero, so you might find that interesting.

Try looking at the Decrypting Forum on Doom9, especially anything with blutach's name on it - his signature contains many useful links and you can rely on his advice on most subjects except cricket.

Good luck and have fun.
