Problem viewing video in Premier Pro 1.5

Anybody ever come across a problem like this before. A friend of mine gave me some video (an avi file) he edited with Premier 6.5. I loaded it into my copy of Premier Pro 1.5 and I can view the video in the clip monitor but I only get sound and no video in the timeline monitor.

Any ideas?

I mean if I couldn't view it period I would think I had a codec problem. But viewable in one but not the other has me stumped.

Thanks for any help.

Convert it to uncompressed or some lossless codec like Huffyuv.

If you can play it in the clip monitor but not the timeline monitor, I would check your project settings since it's probably not an issue of the codecs installed on your system. You may be using the wrong playback codec in Premiere however. Or premiere might be trying to display the video only on the DV device (your camcorder, if hooked up).

I wish I could direct you to these settings, but I always forget where they are and I don't have my copy of premiere here.
