is cyberlink PowerDirector 5 good or bad?
'm going to maybe buy cyberlink PowerDirector and money is not a big problem for me so don't say it's to expensive. i just care about quality and features. i'm going to use it as a converter and i'm going to convert video files to divx and xvid. so is this a good software for the job or is there a better software for this kind of stuff. if there is plz say the name of the software and why it's better. also give me the pros. and cons. of PowerDirector 5

It isn't like PowerDirector will produce better quality then the free alternatives: the coding is done by the DivX / XviD codec anyway, no matter which program you use. |

Im using Power Director 3 and it is much slower than virtualdub. I suppose that the v5 is slower then v/dub too becouse it is basicly program for non-liner editing, not for conversion between video formats

If you want to spend money then the matrox x.100 does the job fine, and you get the best software package free for the price of the hardware (or vice versa depending on your requirements). Check your PC spec **carefully** tho before buying. This Matrox hardware doesn't work with AMD chipsets due to PCI bottlenecks.
Paul btw the older Video collection is the best deal since matrox have got adobe to upgrade premiere pro 1.5 etc. to 2.0 for a short time. The new video bundle mucks bad as it lacks audition 1.5 and encore 1.5 (encore is *superb* for authoring DVDs if you have, or obtain via oem, photoshop cs2), so the upgrade is the best deal. The Adobe sw is stunning. They have free 30 day try-outs at adobe.com PowerDirector, in my humble opinion, mucks. You'll buy more cheap software to dig yourself out of that hole and have to start digging again... Paul Quote:
