about mp4...

hi.after reading doom9's article about mp4 , I have some
questions to make.straight to the point:

1.which is considered as the most 'ISO-compliant' codec currently? Xvid or Divx4/5?

2.Is it enought just to burn the .mp4 file in the root dir of the cd,
or perhaps we must follow a standard directory layout ( such the
one in video-cds ) to ensure future compatibility with h/w players?
I know we are still on early stages in mp4,but are there any general
specifications documented anywhere ?

3.does AAC quality at bitrates around 96 match OGG quality? I admit
that I found OGG surprisingly good at those brs.

1) xvid/divx5.. probably the former. divx4 is not fully specs compliant

2) unknown up to this date as there are no hardware devices

I believe BetaBoy said that Divx 4.x previous to 4.11 were not specs comliant. But 4.11 and 4.12 are supposed to be compliant with simple profile ISO-MPEG4. You might confer with Beta on this to make sure it is 100% correct. But Divx5 when done right is just as good for me if not better than Divx4. And I actually have been using Xvid waaaaaaaaay more than Divx the last few months.
