No difference for me with the latest driver. As ryrynz said, always check that power is set to "adaptive" instead of the default "optimal" after install.

Not sure what's up with my system. I did a clean downgrade install to the previous driver and things are back to normal for me. I'll re-upgrade again tomorrow and see if it reoccurs.

Do all Navi owners have such problems with HDR on the latest driver version as mine?
Video. Picture.

I do, as the AMD API is not sending the BT2020 flag, which is why I have to use the Win 10 HDR Toggle, which forces the BT2020 flag.

I meant without the Win 10 HDR Toggle (AMD HDR mode). Previously, the image was a bit unsaturated, now super-saturated.

Ah right, you mean driver 20.2.1 - yes, I had to roll back because of that...I did post here about it.

The only reason to even consider that in my book is when you are absolutely set on wanting 3D, can't live with SBS/OU modes to get that, and can't use an older NVIDIA driver either.

the other advantage is native 23,976 support but most people now have had a lot of success setting customs res in MADVR I guess, its nice to have though.
But yeah I guess nobody in their right mind would go AMD right now if they are not using 3D+gaming as we still have no BT2020 HDR flag fix and we've still got a problem with colour space in EVR renderer too, all have workaronds however so i'm still getting plenty of use out of my RX5700.

There is still no VP9 support via general D3D11VA/DXVA2 API with Navi cards. I reported this issue to them, nothing happened.
It works with Nvidia since GTX 960 of January 2015, just go team green... (or use Linux with Navi and live with the restrictions vs. Windows) |

Yeah AMD violates the DXVA API. Only a little bit, but enough for software that actually checks (like LAV) to not accept it. I'm still pondering if I should try a workaround or just let them suffer.

I suppose it doesn't work with plain ffplay either, since it doesn't work with mpv. So it seems there was absolutely no testing with upstream ffmpeg by AMD. Just another indicator in what a lousy state their Windows driver team must be.

AMD users - have any of you tried signing up to the vanguard beta program, I thought I might give it a try in the hope I could open up a channel for feedback on the HDR issues as they should also be affecting gaming, however I made it quite clear I was mainly a HTPC user but suggested that maybe some feedback from this angle might be useful to them. I'm not expecting an acceptance but I thought i'd give it a go anyway as I'm getting pretty cheesed off with AMD right now.

I hope it works, mclingo; for years Intel has been the only one that actually tries to minimize video playback regressions, and even their record is quite spotty depending on who got the ticket. (Which is still something; before then, no one bothered testing video at all beyond "it plays, ship it".)
