if you think so...

better don't read the driver change log you may knock yourself out from hitting the table.

you just have to disable a couple of things to avoid the bigger issues.
freesync
hardware decoding

just make sure you don't have more then 2 screen active at a time.
reduce your ram clock.
don't use PCIe 4.0
down clock/volt your GPU.
don't use more then 60 hz.

and you are most likely fine.
except for the games/software that generally doesn't work but "details".

look who is back:
Quote:
Some Radeon RX 5700 series graphics users may intermittently experience a black screen while gaming or on desktop. A potential temporary workaround is disabling hardware acceleration in applications running in the background such as web browsers or Discord.
ohh wait is was never gone...

so let me guess fixing a meta data issue or driver crashes from watching youtube videos what could be more important right now?

releasing a new buggy GUI didn't help here at all. the user base is "in a foul mood" now.

Then why don't you buy a cheap nvidia Pascal card (1070, 1080), use it with the good old driver and get rid of this crap?

Since this works with older cards without any problem.

Have you guys tried the earliest drivers for your gpu (ryzen or 5700) to see if this fixes the problem?

i had the card when the first driver was released so no thank you. with disabled hardware acceleration i'm pretty much "fine" now. so the driver is not constantly crashing for me.

btw. ryzen has nothing to do with this AMD CPU are doing just great they are pretty much a general recommendation.

i've tried all the old drivers myself too, the only reason i'm still with red is 3D and that I do a little gaming now i've upgraded my PC to 5700 / Ryzen 3600.

To be honest I dont mind the HDR toggle now, i have it mapped to a key on my remote so if I forget all I need to do is stop the move, toggle and restart it, I dont even have to close KODI DS.

What would be nice however... Fandangos... - if you could make a HDR toggle version of KODI DS - just based on the current version - that would make a lot of AMD NAVI users very happy indeed - :

but that might be difficult as there would have to be some sort of delay before the movie started in MADVR so this toggled before MADVR started...

Just a remote function inside kodi dsplayer to toggle windows hdr on and off?

I never compiled dsplayer but it seems identical.
If that is the case totally possible.

What the end user would have to do is press it before the movie starts and again when the movie ends.

Would that be of any help?

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, I have managed a dirty hack by using advanced launcher tied to HDR toggle.exe and then added it my my favorites. Dsplayer normal, just press play, HDR movie = go into favs, toggle Win HDR Toggle, plays HDR movies, back to favs, toggle off.

Like I said, it's a hack, but beggars cant be choosers.

Fandangos - if you cant get it to turn on and off automatically when a HDR movies starts I honestly dont think its worth your time mate, it would be nice to have it built in sure but its not really going to any different to our current method really.

but thanks for thinking of us AMD users

I can make it automatic the problem is that when it is triggered it reverts to 60hz.

So this kills 23hz refresh rate change.

[QUOTE=Fandangos;[/QUOTE]

No worries I wouldnt bother then, even if you could get it to change before the movie starts I dont think it would be stable, we're just going to have to hope AMD fix this soon.

thanks.

Could someone with the Ryzen or the RX 5700 bt.2020 problem test my latest release?

You can grab it here:
https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Edition/releases

Install, open it up, press CTRL+H while still in the Kodi interface, play a HDR movie and tell me if the colors are ok.

This can be made automatic for HDR content by adding autohdr true to advancedsettings.xml but this will disable refresh rate change so the movie will be at 60hz all the time.

hi, i've used your previous versions on occasion just to test and provide you feedback but I need MADVR for tonemapping lovelyness. Your version has always worked fine for me, colours are fine as it uses WINDOWS HDR API not AMD private does it not, or did you switch back?

Deleted the last build there is something wrong with it.

It uses the AMD private api but uses Windows to force the bt.2020 flag.

Maybe you are confusing my build with somebody else's.

EDIT:

Now everything is fixed:

I just got confused, there was a lot of talk of using WINDOWS API on your thread.

The build i currently have installed is Kodi-HDR-Edition-4.0-rc3-Python2.exe, if this is also using AMD private API then this works fine for me, no saturation issues. I will however install your new build over the top and try it again when I get home tonight.

ok this is odd, the version I had installed was working fine when I first installed it, now the colours look horrific, massively saturated and contrasty and blown out and HDR 200%, if that makes senese. So I tried your new version, now that is back to the usualy problem with the API, unsaturated colours.

So it triggers the AMD HDR API ok but colours but it doesnt force BT2020, at least two of your versions I tried worked fine initially.
