video samplingsize 12-24 bit?

I new at this....
I´ve got some divx movies from a friend, and they look great.
But when i do my own they dosen´t look as good.
The movement in the clips don´t work as they should (I think)
I wonder if i could have to do with the video samplingsize?
The good ones have 24 bit, but mine was in only 12 bits?
Could this be the problem?
How do I change the video samplingsize?

I use Xmpeg 4.2a
