And so...

has ShaPLAY become "abandonware",

without having its "ugly" source-code released ???

Well, I have Foobar version 0.9.6.8, and indeed it is much less bloated than Winamp or Windows Media Player for example.

Anyway: since the birth of the DVD-Audio plugin, Shadson stopped the development of ShaPLAY altogether. Perhaps it would be better if the moderator ( or the Admin ) locked this thread.

maybe some people don't use foobar, winamp or WMP to play dvd-a isos, audio-ts folder and for others things...as me for example(maybe i'm alone), what i can do with foobar i can do with others soft tools/players.
i use ShaPLAY, VLC and MPCHC. with this players i can play 'everything' that i use and all are softs. each of this players have fantastics configurations to play as i desire.

foobar install lots of thing' and is so heavy(and came from hydrogen..full of kids.lol), the same with winamp and WMP that are heavy too then i can't see reasons to lock the thread as Shadson can surprise us with news...who knows?(i still wish)
i use ShaPLAY to 'play', i don't want players for convertions.
(for audio convertions i use eac3to(cool support and work, we all here know deep details about the support in this forum), is used in lots of 'front-ends', better treat with eac3to developer and helpers here than with foobar in hydrogen. when we post doubts about eac3to here we have solutions, when we post doubts about foobar in hydrogen we have discussions, foobar is famous but eac3to works but it's another story...err..for me is 'end of story' )
if Shadson don't back i will stay with one pc with windows 2000 only with Shaplay and 2Tb hd to play advd isos and audio-ts folder and sounds amazing via 5.1 analogs or optical but i don't will use foobar, winamp or WMP for this case.

cheers Mid!

It seems you still don't know HOW to install foobar2000 properly... And no, you DON'T have to use it for format conversions at all.

But this is completely off-topic, I think.

oh yes, maybe is off topic(maybe not as we are posting about the player) but the problem is not how to install foobar,.. is 'how much' foobar install in the hd that i'll never use to only play dvd-a isos and audio-ts folder, the others 'argumments' and foobar possibilities are completely useless for me and will stay as garbage in my hd.
ShaPLAY have few MBs and will do the same to play dvd-a isos and audio-ts folder.
remember, i only want to play!

Just two words: YOU WRONG.
If you do not see new release every month, it doesn't mean anything.

Note3: For gapless playback ShaPLAY tries to create a very long WAV-file and to insert all data inside one WAV file. While the maximum length of WAV file is about 4 Gigabytes, ShaPLAY has to split the title on 2 parts (one will be the closest to 4Gb and the second is the rest) with gap between them.

For 6ch/24bit/96kHz titles 4Gb is ~41min.
For 6/24/48 - ~82min.
For 2/24/192 - ~62min.

For long titles and big bitrates you will have one gap anyway, sorry.
OpenDML AVI has already overcome the 4GB filesize barrier,
so why not use it ???

P.S.: Only mencoder still believes

I believe you'll find that This has nothing to do with maximum .WAV filesize...

So sure?

EDIT: As I said before,

EDIT #2:

In other words,
¿ what has made you think an AVI file
"cannot contain" more than 4GB of uncompressed audio ?

Limitations

The WAV format is limited to files that are less than 4 GB in size, because of its use of a 32-bit unsigned integer to record the file size header

WAV and AVI are NOT the same thing.
EDIT:

1) I suggested AVI, and not Matroska or ASF,
because Shadson himself has said he is just a "junior programmer".

2) <comment>Ensuring "gapless playback" via a huge temporary file
is an ugly workaround IMHO.</comment>

Would be nice if you'd actually have a link that works. You advertise this player to the world....but your link doesn't work. Real professional.

You can download ShaPLAY from VideoHelp:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ShaPlay

However I think the DVD-Audio input plugin for foobar2000 is much better than ShaPLAY:
