I played a little bit with StaxRip and found 2 minor bugs:
1.) it will use the switch "--engage keep_bitstream_ar_info" with mkvmerge, although that option doesn't exit anymore in recent versions (now default behavior)
2.) when clicking "cancel" in the matroska add attachment file dialog it will add "--attach-file """ instead of nothing

More suggestions:
1.) setting "screen welcome" and "virtualdub" in the registry for VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod would be prevent it from stopping in the middle of the batch on the first run and waiting for the user to confirm the dialogs
2.) What happens when converting for example vfr mkv -> avi? I haven't tested it yet but I guess the audio/video sync will be destroyed, won't it?
3.) When adding the textsup filter it should ask for a subtitle file instead of throwing error messages at the user

I have some questions and suggestions.
Is it possible that the next version, the categories were divided as follows:
Codec | All the profiles of the particular codec, the only exception was the "Device | All profiles to devices."
And again, there is still the option of using Virtualdub official however did not see the application's folder StaxRip with others, then it should be removed or put back. I found some random crashs (rare) when deconding aac with faad2, is there another way to convert aac-> mp3 without having to go through faad2?
I do not know if possible, but in mkvtoolnix have the option to split the mkv into several pieces, and if virtualdub avi, you can do this with the option Just Mux in StaxRip ie, cut or split files without converting the file again with StaxRip?

@Every StaxRip Fan

Hi encoded 3 movies (with VC-1 streams) for my backup using eac3to, FFMS2 and StaxRip: NONE of them has problems with synch (video-audio) as I had with movies encoded with RipBot.
I don't know why, maybe because of the extreme frame precision of FFMS2 RipBot probably doesn't use...

Very happy for that...

Bye.

Hi, I'm a new StaxRip user and I have some questions. I used search but didn't find the answers and 150 pages are a bit long to read then I ask here.

- when encoding to xvid there's a checkbox to use virtualdub instead of virtualdubmod. In which folder should be installed virtualdub? Or do I have to rename virtualdub.exe to virtualdubmod.exe or something like that?

- StaxRip is shipped with some avisynth plugins (autocrop and decomb for examples) that are not the latest versions floating around. Can I try to upgrade to these versions (of course at my own risk) or they are known to be buggy/incompatible with StaxRip?

- In the crop window what mean the error percentage?

Thanks

@M4ST3R

which StaxRip version are you using?

is there a specific reason you want to use vdub instead of vdubmod?

lastest versions of those plugins can be downloaded where?

I know where to place them but I'd like to know whether it's safe or not. I mean autocrop 1.2 is 5 years old (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=87602) then maybe there's a good reason why StaxRip sticks with 1.1.
