There is something that makes me crazy

I was using the Nero AAC Encoder very often. Most times in BeLight, somteimes in BeSweet from command-line. And it always worked fine. Until yesterday! I encoded one file and everything was alright. Then I tried to encode another file and Wooooshhhhhh. I doesn't work any longer! I get those "error configuring bsn" error each time. How can this be? I did not change anything at all. Not one bit! Encoding one file: works. Encoding second file: does not work. And now it does not work, for any file. Even for files i encoded minutes before. Encoding doesn't work in BeLight (it says encoding completed after one second, but encoding was *not* completed) and it doesn't work if I run BeSweet directly.

I cannot understand this

I alread tried to re-install everything, but no success

Code:
BeSweet v1.5b31 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using Shibatch.dll v0.25 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Using bsn.dll replacement v0.02 by dimzon (dimzon541@gmail.com).

Logging start : 12/25/05 , 16:10:05.

BeSweet.exe -core( -input C:\Temp\X.wav -output C:\Temp\X.mp4 -logfile C:\Temp\X.log ) -bsn( -2ch -vbr_extreme -codecquality_high -aacprofile_lc ) -ota( -g max )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : C:\Temp\X.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Output: C:\Temp\X.mp4
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No
Error 84: error configuring bsn!
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

Logging ends : 12/25/05 , 16:10:05.
For Info: I use latest BeLight daily build with latest Nero 7 DLLs. All required DLLs are there! It worked all the time before.

You mean bse_Nero7WA.dll only ? coz I've made a quick test with Nero7 dlls :
  • bsn from Dg & E-male only : ok
  • bse_Nero7WA.dll only : doesn't work
  • bsn from Dizmon only : doesn't work
  • bsn from Dg & E-male + bse_Nero7WA.dll : ok
  • bsn from Dimzon + bse_Nero7WA.dll : doesn't work

So, what's wrong ?

You need original bsn.dll (forget dimzon's bsn - it is obsolete since dedicated -dimzon switch) + bse_Nero7WA.dll
and you must call Nero7 encoder via -dimzon( -dllname bse_Nero7WA.dll ... ) always

I have the same problem with BeSweet/BeLight. Came up suddenly. I still don't understand !!!
Hope they will fix that (see posts above).

Nevertheless there is another command-line front-end for the Nero Encoder, which works fine for me.
Maybe you'll give this one a try:

You need bsn.dll from the last BeSweet package (http://dspguru.doom9.net) + bse_Nero7WA.dll. And it works fine...

@deets:

dimzon said "and you must call Nero7 encoder via -dimzon( -dllname bse_Nero7WA.dll ... ) always"

Seems like you didn't do that...

The changelog sais that Nero's AAC Encoder supports Parametric Stereo since Version 7.0.1.2. Is there a way to use PS mode with the Nero encoder in BeSweet/BeLight?

PS is automatically enabled so you dont need to specify it.

Allright. Do you know when it will be enabled? (always in HE mode or below a certain bitrate)

Manual gain for ac3 encoding

Continuing the discussion from here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...244#post759244 (thanks to dragongodz)

Summary: from my tests, the Belight/Besweet -ota gain modes are still much lower than original ac3.
Tebasuna51 quantify this as-6db overall volume decrease. I will try 8.035db +6 = 14db and search for distorsion or artefacts (I tried manually +11db with ac3machine on that sample and seems ok)

Could you consider implementing a manual gain command in Belight? thank you.

Some issues with HE-AAC on Nero Digital mode:
a 1:48:46 HMS audio track 6-ch 48kHz 16bits, creates bad audio (played with ffdshow and Winamp) no matter what options I use.
These are clips made with HE profile (all 20 seconds each):
1) encoding 1h48m36s WAV from 1m50s to 2m10s with these options:
Code:
BeSweet v1.5b31 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using Shibatch.dll v0.25 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Using bsn.dll v0.24 by DPeshev,Richard,E-Male,DSPguru (DSPguru.Doom9.org).

Logging start : 01/01/06 , 22:55:43.

BeSweet.exe -core( -input C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac.wav -output C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_1.mp4 -logfile C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_5.log ) -bsn( -6chnew -cbr 224 -codecquality_high -aacprofile_he ) -split( -start 110 -end 130 )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Output: C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_1.mp4
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No

[00:00:00:000] +-------- BSN --------
[00:00:00:000] | bitrate: cbr 192
[00:00:00:000] | HE-aac high quality encoding
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
[00:00:20:000] Conversion Completed !
[00:00:10:000] <-- Transcoding Duration

Logging ends : 01/01/06 , 22:55:53.
Final file: 3.6Gb

2) encoding a 2m30s WAV entirely, and then splitting a 20 seconds clip:
Code:
BeSweet v1.5b31 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using Shibatch.dll v0.25 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Using bsn.dll v0.24 by DPeshev,Richard,E-Male,DSPguru (DSPguru.Doom9.org).

Logging start : 01/01/06 , 23:04:26.

BeSweet.exe -core( -input C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.wav -output C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed_1.mp4 -logfile C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed_1.log ) -bsn( -6chnew -cbr 224 -codecquality_high -aacprofile_he )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Output: C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed_1.mp4
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No
[00:00:00:000] | Source Sample-Rate: 48.0KHz
[00:00:00:000] +-------- BSN --------
[00:00:00:000] | bitrate: cbr 192
[00:00:00:000] | HE-aac high quality encoding
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
[00:02:30:000] Conversion Completed !
[00:00:42:000] <-- Transcoding Duration

Logging ends : 01/01/06 , 23:05:08.
Results: Full Encode

3) the same 2m30s WAV, but encoding 20s from 1m50s to 2m10s:
Code:
BeSweet v1.5b31 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using Shibatch.dll v0.25 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Using bsn.dll v0.24 by DPeshev,Richard,E-Male,DSPguru (DSPguru.Doom9.org).

Logging start : 01/01/06 , 23:02:27.

BeSweet.exe -core( -input C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.wav -output C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.mp4 -logfile C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.log ) -bsn( -6chnew -cbr 224 -codecquality_high -aacprofile_he ) -split( -start 110 -end 130 )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Output: C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\hitch_aac_fixed.mp4
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No
[00:00:00:000] | Source Sample-Rate: 48.0KHz
[00:00:00:000] +-------- BSN --------
[00:00:00:000] | bitrate: cbr 192
[00:00:00:000] | HE-aac high quality encoding
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
[00:00:20:000] Conversion Completed !
[00:00:09:000] <-- Transcoding Duration

Logging ends : 01/01/06 , 23:02:36.
Partial Encode 82Mb

4) The same 2m30s WAV, encoded with AACEnc32 (-cbr 224 -lowpass 24000):
Aacenc32 output

Is there a bug related to this?

Also, how come there isnīt a option to set the output fileīs name to other than the sourceīs name with differente extension?
