DVD backups (Which DVD-RW?)

Ive considered buying a DVD-R/DVD-RW for a while now but have held off until I found this forum Well my options are the new HP 100i or the Philips DVDRW208. I have read the reviews and the Philips RW seems more promising, but we all know that sometimes $$$paid=good review given. Does anyone have one of these writers and if so have you had any problems. Also, when I get ready to backup a dvd and the total size is 4500 could I just decode/decrypt the files to their corresponding directories and then reburn them to a DVD-R without having to do anything else? I would appreciate any advice I have a feeling Im going to need it. (DVDRs are expensive enough and if I make a coaster out one I'm wearing the friggin thing on a chain)
