How can I convert idx/sub or vob subtitles into SRT WITHOT using OCR?

Hi!

Does anyone know a way to convert vob or idx/sub subtitles to SRT WITHOUT using OCR? I'm a bit tired of using SubRip. I'm blind and I have to use a special braille computer that converrts everything that appears on the computer screen into braille. The stupid thing converts SubRip into braille, but when SubRip asks to confirm a character, it's impossible to convert that spesific character into braille, so my parents always have to dictate every single letter when I want to watch a movie which contains subtitles in an unknown letter type. They keep telling me they don't mind helping me with this sort of things, but it always requires a lot of time for both my pratens and myself, and I'm fed up with asking everyone for help.
Is there a program that converts subtitles into SRT without using OCR? If such tools don't exist, can I download SubRip character Matrix files from a special database? I kno someone has posted a lot of Matrix files on a site called 'fterazza' or something along those lines, but that site does not possess the files anymore.

Reguards,

It seems you do not know what idx/sub is. They are bitmaps, and if you want them in SRT or ASS/SSA (which is formatted text) then you MUST use OCR. Regarding subrip matrix files:

Thanks for the matrix file I found in your link. But why does it only work if you use subrip 1.50? I prefer subrip 1.17 because that's a version my braille software fully supports.

I was going to suggest that if your vobs contain a Closed Caption track, that you could use ccextractor to get them. No OCR involved.
