You already know the answer to your question, both the first and second one. What are you giving up?
No, no one else gets multichannel out of Chrome. Youtube is a different story, they are not synonymous.

kinda mVR-related but anyway it's the chitchat topic so here goes, this PDF makes very clear that REC.709 calls for D65 white point: https://app.spectracal.com/Documents...20Monitors.pdf

what gives final result is plenty red, though: https://youtu.be/2S24-y0Ij3Y?t=31 I guess they prolly shoot at 48fps in order to control motion-blur when downgrading to 24 Last edited by leeperry; 27th May 2019 at 19:26. |

Its called post-processing or mastering. That process can change anything in the video between the camera and your display.

Breaking news lol, I just wonder why they don't record in D65 in the first place huh? Even with high bit-depth 3DLUT's, is 5200K>6500K conversion lossless?
I've seen it on EU / US & korean videos, must be a reason to it. I guess they use digital cameras with REC.709 gamut so why "daylight" 5200K Anyhow, indeed motion blur is mostly inexistant in that 24fps final video so I guess recording in 48fps does indeed wonders if post-processing to 24 is right |

depending on the point of view you can do this "lossless" ignoring rounding/dithering bit deep not the issue here. changing the white point effects the CR if you have to match another white point you will lose CR because you can't reach the whites white anymore. if a video is more red or not has nothing to do with this it just looks like this because they wanted it to look like this.

indeed, theoretically they are crippling native CR but of course they will increase it artificially in every scene afterwards during mastering.
that screenshot says "SDI" & "4K" and REC.2020 also calls for D65: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rec._2020 they go 48fps so they know what they're doing and I guess there's a good reason to 5200K, usually koreans sit on top of technology so they woulda gone D65 if that was a better choice....oh well Last edited by leeperry; 27th May 2019 at 19:36. |

AMD NAVI looks interesting, wonder if we'll see MADVR performance catch up with NVIDIA cards.

Wasn't Vega already the same?

Yep, it's a joke at this price point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOoRLmurtxE
I mean they launched cards that: - similar to 2070, that is almost 1 year (!) old at the same price?! And this price was artificially pumped up by the competition 2 years ago! - at the same time it draws more power (!), while it's on 7nm? wtf?! If it was 250 ... Just buy a 3 years old used pascal card for 100-200 with the same performance and (less?) power consumption That's what became of the GPU market in the last 4 years, so don't support these lunatics. What's interesting to me to see that the same (!) company that does really well on 1 front, does this on the other ... That tells you a lot ...

and nvida can say it cost more because these cards are very huge term of size and they have these tensor and rt core and even the demo feature of ray tracing what does AMD add an adaptive sharpen filter time to double the price?
they can't even beat the clock from nvidia with that 7nm note... i can already get an 2060 for 333 € including a ton of tax. |

Thats not unexpected. New nodes often clock lower until they have been fully optimized.

the node is a year or better a year in mass production and i understand why zen 2 can't reach 5 GHZ is not like the 7 nm node is been refined half a decade longer then intel panned and that created a specail situation in the CPU market.
with maxwell to pascal we got from 1.4 to 1.9 ghz i understand that this is unusual. but the issue with navi is that we know it can do 1.9 ghz but there design can't run at that clock constantly so the node can do it but AMD managed to create a GPU that runs at 1.7 ghz and needs more power then a nvidia card that run at 2.0 ghz with an old 16 nm node renamed to 12nm. something doesn't add up here and it can'T be the node if it is supposed to be vastly more efficient at the same clock rate. |

Guys, is there any simple way for a n00b to process SSIM downscaling on pics somehow? Or what's the second best option then?
Asking coz my local stray cats refuge have to drastically downscale pics for their website and they use the crappiest algo ever, even my pristine pics look like junk PS: nvm, ResizeMagic in "sharper" mode looks quite nice Last edited by leeperry; 6th July 2019 at 19:32. |
