That's a pretty good job you've done with the list! Just FYI: Thomson ViBE is a modular hardware series of encoders (not a software!) You may also add some more hardware encoders: SkyStream Mediaplex & iPlex platforms contain the AVC Encoder Submodule now StreamTel E42-H264 Darim MV401EXP-H264 Encoder and MV410EXP Decoder Mayah I [io] 8000 series - right now Mayah supports only MPEG-4 ASP but showed the H.264/AVC prototype at the NAB 2005, and plans to announce the AVC availability in Q3 '05. Thales ARGOS MPEG-4 Encoder - was said to be available for sale with AVC feature in July. Last edited by b_x20852; 27th June 2005 at 17:09. |

thx for the info ! sg really promising ! some questions : - do i need showtime for playback or does recode install playback support available for othar players ? - how's this recode relate to that just under beta testing ? would that be also available as a separate pack ? - i found some strange on the trailer page. 'portable' defines as 352x288/512kbps/2.51Mb. instead sg of 5.2Mb size downloads and neither the resolution nor the bitrate meets the info. and the file generates runtime error about 95%. thx again y |

But in principle you don't need Showtime at all, if you install the latest ffdshow (and enable h.264 and aac decoding in ffdshow) and Haali Media Splitter (MatroskaSplitter). FFdshow shows ND subtitles somewhat strangely, but if you install the latest VSFilter, subtitles look ok. Hopefully ffdshow subtitle rendering will become better so you don't need even VSFilter anymore. That way you can have a free decoder and support for Nero Digital chapters, subtitles and multiple audio streams with any Dshow player. Ateme provides the video coder for Nero Digital. The updated Ateme coder under beta testing will be included in Recode. Last edited by JohnV; 30th June 2005 at 06:39. |

thx for the answers ! i used the filters u suggested for playing back the trailers and everything worked fine. maybe u know the very last ffdshow build from celtic_druid supports cqm and the deblocking part of h264 is also improved. yep ... the subtitle part is a bit ... fuky ... in ffdshow but vsfilter is ok. would u also take care of that broken trailer. what's linked as 'portable' is a broken version of the 'standard', my 1 bit. thx y |

Well, I kinda said it's "optimized only for TI TMS320C64x" and not "exists only for TI TMS320C64x". You can still run in under Windows/Linux/whatever with reasonable speeds (and full set of MP features)
Sorry for the misunderstanding |

btw "(Einige Fakten)" next to the free avc decoder means "some facts", you might want to remove this from the implementations name
