video codecs/ffdshow tryouts settings???

I have been trying to edit on sony vegas for several weeks now...and everytime I open a video file, I only get audio and no video.

I have used various programs to help like g spot and ffdshow-tryouts.

the vfw setting in ffdshow seems to be somewhat helpful...it is because of setting h264 to libavcodec, on the vfw component, that I am able to drag and drop the files on the video section of sony vegas...but they still show a black screen.

The files I am trying to watch are avi files.

Someone on tech support forums said that someone here may be able to help me tweak the vfw settings to help get things working. I am also open to any other suggestions.

thanks

Are you sure that Vegas allows using 3rd party decoders/splitters for decoding? If no, try to remux your h264 video to mp4.

Yea, H.264 is set to libavcodec, would it be possible that adjusting other settings besides H.264 would make a difference?

Keiyakusha
How exactly would I remux my h264 video to mp4? Isn't that just like converting files?
