Use the debug version. Then you can see what madVR does right before the hang occurs.

Scan your harddrive for bad sectors.
Scan for damaged Windows files.

before resorting to a full windows rebuild, have you chucked the full monty at it in one go, rather than doing everything bit by bit?, before you do a full rebuild try this all in one go.
  • Remove NVIDIA driver using DDU and reboot.
  • Remove MADVR completely
  • Remove Lav completely.
  • Reboot again
  • reinstall Nvidia driver.
  • Install MPC-BE and run up a movie just to check all is working ok at this point.
  • install LAV
  • Install MADVR in a !!NEW!! location
  • Switch MPC-BE render to MADVR and try it, leave MADVR at stock settings for now.

@ttnuagmada have you tried disabling fullscreen exclusive mode? (I think it's enabled in the default madVR settings)

Since a few releases, it is disabled by default.

I have not, but the lockups dont occur at full screen. It happens the second the video is opened in a window. I don't have it set to go fullscreen automatically.

Madvr uses the private nvidia api to enable hdr.

Can someone or madshi show the api?
I want to make a script for other things to enable hdr by command line interface.

@Madshi can you post the API, please?

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for.

The white papers even bring the code ready.
I'm just wondering, the APIs are part of nvidia drivers now? Or those need to be installed?

If I'm getting this right, all I need to do is copy and paste the code to the player and it will trigger HDR.

Also again, much appreciate the help.

No, you don't need to install anything else.

So today I checked. Playing video on my kodi box vs playing with kodi using madvr/dsplayer.

And it seems Kodi on pc is indeed experiencing mini stutters, while my kodi on my media box is 100% fluid.
It's frequent but with spaces of it being fluid aswell. So I was doubting my own eyes.
But it just barely annoyed me, sometimes more then others.
Thus I had to be sure and checked.

I check madvr OSD and there don't seem to be dropped/ repeated frames or presentation glitches.
Yet mini sutter is still present.

Im on 430.39

I had heard this was a thing that happend often to RTX 2080?

Can any RTX user tell me how they eliminated this problem?

For now I am just playing the same movie both on my pc and kodi box at the same time.
Trying to play them back at the exact same time for my ambilight to be correctly timed with the video source coming from android kodi box. to still have 4k HDR Ambilight with the video.(which is impossible for the android box alone I have, which is why I would prefer PC now, but mini stutters..)

You mean this?
This is NVIDIA Profle Inspector tool with an optimized profile for MPC-HC/BE.

Download

Most important settings it uses:
Power management mode = Adaptive
VSync = on
GSync = off
SLI = off
Prefer NVIDIA on Optimus systems

Already using those ssettings.
Though I dont see a prefer nvidia on optimus setting.

Anyway these settings make 0 difference appearently.

The only option in Kodi to use MADVR with HDR goes through Kodi DSPlayer ???

There is no other?

Hello everyone.
Occasionally I am experiencing stuttering in moving scenes, but no dropped frames or presentation glitches.
How can I track what is causing this?

I enabled full screen exclusive mode, looks like it is helping a bit but still I see it.
Does FSE still makes sense?

I am using madVR v0.92.17 with latest MPC-HC on Windows 10 64 bit.
