Convolution3D Beta5

Hi all,

I was away for a long time and unfortunately I should continue like this .

I stopped to work on C3D at the end of january and I never released my latest sources. That's what I will do now.

So you will found attached with this thread the beta5 of C3D for Avisynth 2.5X. It contains the latest working sources (I hope) I have. The code has been reorganized totally to make it easier to maintain & perhaps faster. Unfortunately it was before I read Sh0dan's post about Softwire, I'm sure C3D could become easier to read with it.

This code does not contain all my experimentations especially on the return of Temporal Influence. I hope I'll have some time again to reorganize it and release it to you (sorry but I can't give any date).

I'll add a little disclaimer to this post , I had not enought time to test totally this build so please be kind if it don't work for you.

About TemporalCleaner, IIRC I have not worked on it since the latest release so don't expect any new release soon.

Feel free to use the code of C3D or TemporalCleaner as you want, but please don't forget the GPL licence.

You can download the beta5 : http://membres.lycos.fr/tempask/ (Please beware to not use any download manager as this site check the referer)

I hope I'll be back soon.

Hi vlad59!

great news!

i did a very small test ->
i opened a .avs file including con3d_b5 ->
image

note that such frames only occur sometimes and not everytime, when i load the .avs, on the same frames...

These are typical artifacts of a frame from a MPEG stream which wasn't provided a reference, such as what happens with random seeking (trim for instance) with Nic's MpegDecoder...

I got the same problem when the vobs were ripped by smartripper. Preview the vob in dvd2avi and see if you're getting the same problem.

If the problem still occurs, rerip the vobs using DVD decrypter. It worked for me.

Nice to know C3D is advancing, Vlad59!

I've tried it some weeks ago on Alien, and I was impressed how it cancelled the noise, and still maintained so much quality.

Nicolas has pointed out some threads on this forum about his SoftWire that I was unaware about.
I'm not into programming myself, but I'd still like the possible speedup I could get.

Keep up the good work, and thank you for this great filter!

Just a small question. Maybe I am asking this due to my lack of knowledge on how these cleaning filters work, but is it a good idea to use Convolution3D along with TemporalCleaner since the temporal influence is disabled in C3D, or is each meant to be used with each other. If using both of them is a good idea, in which order? Thanks. ^_^

I'm not sure, but as I understand it temporal influence is only something that increases the speed. C3D still works in the temporal dimension.

vlad: Should I upload this version to the site, and replace the current 2.5 beta that is there?

OK. The site has been updated. Sorry for not noticing this before. Too much time playing with my new home theater, not enough keeping track of new releases. =)
