VHS Copy Protection

Has any one have any idea how to copy a protected VHS tape on to Hard Disk? I want to burn it on DVD, but I only get a white screen when copied on Computer and then played.
Thanks

Search using the keyword "macrovision" -- that's the tradename (and company name) for this analog protection mechanism.
