Splitting up encoding with mencoder

Hi,

I was wondering if I can split up xvid conversion with mencoder?

For example:

MPEG2 -> AVI (xvid)

Video has 10000 frames

I want to be able to start 1 thread of mencoder to encode the first 5000 frames and simultaneously a second thread to encode the next 5000 frames.

And the end I can join the 2 parts back together.

If you wonder why I want to do this. I've been playing with the threads option and other speed-increasing options but I never can encode faster then 45fps during 1st pas and 60-70 fps during second pass.

virtualdub can encode at 140-160fps on my icore5...
