IMHO they are wery useful when making 1CD rips, extra 220megs helps alot to improve quality.
They work if u have 99min capable burner. Generally they work in reader drives, but some have problems somewhere after 90 minute mark. |

It is possible to store 800MB on 80 minutes CD
Using conventional burner, using MODE 2 FORM2 format.
The process is clumsy, because the usual burning software doesn't support well MODE2 FORM2 except VCD which is restricted to VCD). Regarding burning on 80++ minutes CD, I think this is "non standard" which means only few burners burn these CDs and not every CDROM reads them. |

The big problem with 90 and 99 minute disks is that there is no standard. So every company is making their 9 minute disks different ways, so discs from one company may work, but disks from other companies may not.
